Central International Music Competition™
Central International Music Competition™ ACCEPTS VIDEO APPLICATIONS ONLINE. Winners will be invited to Perform MALTA GRAND GALA in the Grand Auditorium Theatre at the Malta Catholic Institute!
ONLINE & LIVE Central International Music Competition™ is open for all instruments, singers, traditional instruments, ensembles (incl. piano four-hands). Professional and Amateur artists of any nation invited to participate.

The following documents must be included

PROGRAM
- Solo Category I (Age up to 7) – Free program duration up to 5 min.
- Solo Category II (Age 8-12) – Free program up to 8 min.
- Solo Category III (Age 13-17) – Free program up to 12 min.
- Solo Category Adults (Without Age Limit) – Free program up to 15 min.
Compositions of Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Contemporary periods are accepted. Contestants may enroll in a higher age category than they belong. Compositions may be performed with or without accompaniment. Recordings can be done by using conference calls online simultaneously. Shorter or longer videos can be enrolled.
AWARDS
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd PRIZE WINNERs will receive Diplomas and Medals by the Central Academy of Arts and Invitations to Perform the MALTA GRAND GALA on the 29 January 2021
- SPECIAL PRIZE WINNERs will receive Diplomas
- EVERY PARTICIPANT will receive a Certificate
Multiple competitors can be awarded in each Solo & Chamber Music Categories.
JURY will be comprised of recognized and accomplished music professors, teachers and artists of different nationalities. The results will be publishes on the 25 December 2020 by indicating the names of the winners Soloists and Ensembles. The jury is free to award or to withhold prizes as it sees. Ex-aequo prizes and special mention awards are permitted. The judges’ decision is final. Legal recourse is excluded.
Winners are responsible to arrange travel and accomodation at their own expenses. During the Awards Ceremony participants waive all right to television broadcasting remunarations and non financial remunaration for their performance.

The organizers are authorized to utilize and exploit the recordings in sound, image and digital media as well as for presentation on the internet. For this purpose, all participants cede all requisite rights of use, exploitation and broadcast to the organizers; the right to publish details of the competitors, ensembles and its members and pass them to third parties. VFIMF 2020 has the right to produce and distribute without limit or payment of any fee, photo, audio and/or video recordings of all events etc. Having studied the conditions, the signatory accepts the stipulations and regulations of the Malta International Music Master Classes™, Central Academy of Arts™ and Malta International Music Competition®. The legal recourse is excluded.

PROGRAMMalta International Music Competition® often comes to be the first experience of a young instrumentalist. For this reason our mission is to help exceptionally talented musicians.
Young Categories: Piano, Violin, Chamber Music
The competition in this category will consist of one session open to the public.
Category I (Age 7-12): Free program of 2 different style periods with a duration of 5-12 minutes.
Category II (Age 13-17): Free program of 2 different style periods with a duration of 12-20 minutes.
At least one composition has to be performed from memory.
Young competitors in categories above must supply their own accompanist.
Adult Category (Age 18-33): Violin Solo (without an accompaniment)
The competition in this category will consist of three sessions open to the public.

During the first round the following compositions must be executed:
– two contrasting movements or Chaconne from Sonatas and Partitas for Violin Solo by J.S.Bach
– a Caprice for Violin Solo by N.Paganini
During the second round
– every violinist has to perform a complete composition originally written for Violin Solo (B.Bartok, E.Ysaye, E.Bloch etc). It is not permitted to select any of the compositions from the previous round.

a Special Violin Prize and Diploma for the best execution of this contemporary work – Concert Performance at Pacific Contemporary Music Center in California State University, Los Angeles (USA) will be Awarded.
This work is not a compulsory composition
At least one composition, during the First and the Second Rounds, has to be performed from memory.
The program to be executed in the final will be chosen by the jury and will consist of works executed in the first and second rounds.
Adult Category (Age 18-33): Piano Solo
The competition in this category will consist of three sessions open to the public.

During the first round the following compositions must be executed within a time frame of minimum 20 minutes and maximum 35 minutes:
– One prelude and fugue from Well-Tempered Clavier of Bach ( Book 1 or 2)
– One or two studies of Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Stravinsky, Bartok or Ligetti.
– One classical sonata of Mozart, Haydn or Beethoven.
During the second round every pianist has to perform a program of approximately half an hour. The program must include at least three compositions:
– One composition of romantic period
– One composition or movement composed after 1920
a composition of your choice for Piano Solo by Prof. Jean-Philippe Vanbeselaere
(available for download after 15 March 2012)
a Special Piano Prize and Diploma for the best execution of this contemporary work – Concert Performance in Europa Musica (France).
This work is not a compulsory composition

Adult Category: Chamber Music (from 2 to 5 instruments, including Piano Ensemble-Four Hands)
The competition in this category will consist of three sessions open to the public.

During the first round the following compositions must be executed within a time frame of minimum 20 minutes and maximum 35 minutes:
– a movement or a composition, composed after 1920
– movements/compositions of at least 2 different style periods (baroque, early classic, classic, early romantic, impressionism/expressionism). One of the works to be performed in the first round must be a movement of a multi-movement composition, approx. 15 minutes.
During the second round every ensemble has to perform a program of approximately half an hour. The program must include complete composition/s. It is not permitted to select any of the compositions from the previous round.
The program to be executed in the final will be chosen by the jury and will consist of works executed in the first and second rounds.
The Artistic Committee will have the right to accept or reject any of the program submitted.
Three complete sets of scores of the performance repertoire will be required of each pianist, violinist or ensemble. Failure to meet requirements might result in disqualification.
The Jury will have the right to ask for partial performance and to interrupt it, if it exceeds the prescribed time limits. However, if requested, candidates should be prepared to perform the composition entirely.
